Value Added Products and Services

  1. Email Services

    1. Web Mail: Web Mail allows you to send or receive secure e-mail from anywhere in the world as long as the computer you are using is connected to the Internet and has a Web browser. This is an excellent option for those travelling or working outside the office.

    2. Mail Spooling: This service downloads batches of mail from the MWEB server to your company's server at set intervals. The mail is then automatically distributed within minutes to the relevant employee to avoid each person having to dial in separately. This is an economical solution for companies to manage bandwidth usage more intelligently.

    3. Virus & Spam Control: MWEB Africa uses a 3-layer approach to prevent Viruses and Spam. First, we accept only mail that was sent from authorised Mail Sending hosts. Secondly, the mail is scanned for any known viruses and thirdly, the mail is scanned again for Spam before we pass it on to the customer.

    4. Email Services for the Individual:
      - 1 email address with 4 aliases
      - 20 MB Mail Box

  2. Website Hosting
Our standard website hosting service provides a minimum 50 MB of MWEB clustered environment on one of our servers. Your website is hosted in a secure infrastructure directly on the MWEB network, to ensure fast download times and protect the site against hackers.

It supports various languages and applications and also includes the ability to host a database, FTP access and provide website traffic statistics on the Advanced hosting offering. The statistics measures who visits the site, when peak times are, what percentage of visitors are from overseas and what areas of your site are accessed the most.

  3. Domain Name Registration
Registering a domain name with MWEB Africa provides your company with a unique online identity which could be used for all Internet-based communication. It is the first step in establishing your business presence on the World Wide Web.

In addition to your domain name, MWEB Africa provides a range of additional services to make the most of your online presence. This includes hosting space on one of our servers, a matching email address (e.g., username@companyname.co.za), and substantial discounts on marketing within the MWEB family of sites.

  4. Business Server
    1. Systems Overview Page
To Monitor that everything is working

    2. Networking Services
      1. i. DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol for assigning dynamic IP Addresses to devices on a network. With dynamic addressing, a device can have a different IP address every time it connects to the network. In some systems, the device's IP address can even change while it is still connected. DHCP also supports a mix of static and dynamic IP addresses.
      2. ii. DNS (Domain Name System/Service/Server), an Internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses. Because domain names are alphabetic, they're easier to remember. The Internet however, is really based on IP Addresses. Every time you use a domain name, a DNS service must translate the name into the corresponding IP address.
      3. iii. NAT (Network Address Translation), an Internet standard that enables a local-area network to use one set of IP addresses for internal traffic and a second set of addresses for external traffic.

    3. Remote Access to Business Server from Anywhere

    4. Easy Interface to Manage all Services

    5. Firewall
Designed to prevent unauthorized access to and from a private network and is frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets. All messages entering or leaving the intranet pass through the firewall which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria.

    6. Mail

    8. QoS on Bandwidth
Enforces a network policy that will impact bandwidth, delay (jitter), or traffic reliability.

    9. VPN
A virtual private network is constructed by using public wires to connect nodes. For example, there are a number of systems that enable you to create networks using the Internet as the medium for transporting data. These systems use encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorised users can access the network and that data cannot be intercepted.

  5. Customisation of C.I.R Products
C.I.R packages can be customised to provide the following add on:
    • After hours burst (Bandwidth re-allocation according to clients needs)
    • Prioritising available bandwidth per protocol
    • Apply QoS settings for VPN, VoIP, SMTP etc.
